Bad news for Big Brother fans – as the future of the show is STILL up in the air

The Channel 5 series may never return

The future of one of the UK’s longest-running reality show’s, Big Brother, is still very much uncertain as contract negotiations continue.

The Channel 5 series, which was originally broadcast on Channel 4 from 2000 until 2011, has come to the end of it’s contract with the broadcaster.

Contract negotiations are ongoing, and although Channel 5’s director of programming Ben Frow has revealed that no decisions have been made, he has admitted that the format will definitely change it it returns.

According to Broadcast, Ben said that if they strike a deal, it won’t return “in its current form”.

He also added that the broadcaster would “not be spending the same amount of money,” on the show, before saying, “The ball is in Endemol Shine’s court.”

Last month, the show’s host Emma Willis cast doubt on whether the show would return.

She told the Daily Mirror, “I don’t know, we’re all waiting. I think they’re in negotiations at the minute. I’d hate to see it disappear. Fingers crossed we have a fantastic summer series and the channel want to keep it.”

Every year, Big Brother produces three series, including one regular version in the summer, and two celebrity editions.
