Denise McCormack has said new TV3 soap Red Rock is nothing like RTE drama Love/Hate.
The actress, who played Fran’s wife Linda in the award-winning gangland series, insisted the two shows are completely different, despite both focusing on criminals and the Gardai.
“I knew it was going to be compared to Love/Hate,” Denise admitted.
“But it’s not like that at all – it’s so different, they’re both about crime but that’s the beginning and the end of the comparison.”

Red Rock got off to an explosive start this week with over 323,000 people tuning in to meet feuding families The Hennessys and The Kielys.
Denise plays Bridget Kiely in the fictitious seaside town and admitted things have been tense on set.
“Everyone on set is nervous, we’re doing something totally different – but it’s also exciting,” Denise told the Herald.
“You knew when you were on set that everyone was giving 110pc and you were constantly reassured that the end product was going to justify the means.”

“What’s nice about working on a soap is that you don’t know what’s going to happen, unlike things I’ve done before where you know what the ending is,” she explained.
“But in Red Rock I can let the character develop really slowly and subtly, which is a great thing to be able to do.
“I’m only realising now how fantastic it is to be able to work on a show where we get a long stretch to develop our characters and it’s nice not to know what’s going to happen.”
Red Rock airs on Tv3 every Wednesday and Thursday at 8pm
