Ryan Tubridy has defended his treatment of Peter Casey of The Late Late Show.
The former presidential candidate appeared on the chat show following the election, but felt that he was treated unfairly by the presenter.
Earlier this week, The Irish Sun reported that RTÉ received 353 complaints, 67 emails and 95 calls regarding the interview and Ryan has now defended his treatment of the Derry native.
“I would say that the Late Late is no stranger to robust exchanges and debates, and that was just another one,” the father-of-two told the publication.
“I think everyone who comes to the show can expect a fair hearing, and if it’s political, it can be a little bit more robust and that’s what happens.”
“You do a big show of any description, there is argy bargee, then after that, you look at it on a case by case basis,” Ryan added, after he was asked about the possibility of Peter returning to the show.
The presenter also said that he had “no regrets” regarding the interview.
