Man pleads guilty to harassing RTÉ presenter Sharon Ní Bheoláin

This is awful

A Dublin man has pleaded guilty to harassing RTÉ newscaster Sharon Ní Bheoláin.

Conor O’Hora will be sentenced in May, after admitting to stalking Sharon.

According to RTÉ, the 40-year-old also pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography on a hard drive on February 18, 2014.

The man, who hails from Portmarnock, admitted to harassment on the basis of recklessness between March 27, 2013, and January 7, 2014.

In court, Conor O’Hora’s barrister said that his client has been under therapeutic care for four years, and asked for time for a report to be put together prior to sentencing.

Sentencing will take place on May 16, when full facts of the offending will be heard.

Back in 2014, Sharon admitted that she never told her RTÉ colleagues about the man, who stalked her and told her what to wear on TV.

“I’m a big girl,” she said at the time. “I’m not shaken. I have just got on with things. I didn’t even tell my colleagues about this. I didn’t need to.”

“I’m perfectly able, I have broad shoulders and I’m perfectly able to do this on my own. When this thing went to the gardai I stressed I wanted to keep it private. The team were fantastic. It was dealt with very delicately and they were absolutely wonderful.”

The presenter previously hosted RTÉ’s Six One News, before moving to the Nine O’Clock News. Sharon is also the host of Crimecall.
