He's never going to dance again! Michael Flatley reveals why he's retiring

Michael Flatley has revealed he is retiring from the world of dance because his legs “are in bits”.

The famed dancer is set to hang up his dancing shoes early next year after a two month long stint on Broadway.

“My legs are in bits right now, but I’ll tell you one thing – when I’m on that Broadway stage I’ll be dancing like I’m a teenager,” he said.

“It’s been my dream to do Broadway. I couldn’t think of a better way to say goodbye to my fans after all of these years.”

Although the stage star has suffered a number of health woes after years of a strict fitness and dance routines – he insisted he wouldn’t trade his career for the world.

“You know, I don’t care. The pain is nothing. This is what I love to do and I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” he told Irish Central.

Opening up about his upcoming shows, the renowned Irish dancer admitted his last wish before retiring was to perform in two of the world’s most famous theatres.

“It’s coming to the end of my career, and last year Niamh [his wife] asked me what I would like to do,” he admitted.

“I said the West End in London which we did, and I want to do Broadway. We did the London Palladium and ended up staying for a year.

“When we got the call from Broadway to say a theatre had become available, I said take it,” he added.

Despite being known for his dancing talents, the proud father-of-one admitted he doesn’t know if his son Michael Jnr will follow in his footsteps.

“He comes to the shows and he dances like crazy around the place, so you never know,” he revealed.
