Garth Brooks has ‘no such plans’ for Cork gig next year

Garth Brooks has slammed reports that he’s set to play Croke Park next year.

According to RTÉ Entertainment, a statement released by Garth’s spokesperson said, “We know of no such plans on his schedule.”

Rumours were rife about a potential Cork gig yesterday, after the Lord Mayor of Cork, Des Cahill, said he was “very confident” that the country crooner would perform at  in 2017.

Speaking on Cork’s Red FM, Mr Cahill said he had heard that talks were underway to bring Garth to the city, and also claimed that Adele could follow suit.

Pairc Ui Chaoimh is undergoing a €70 million refurbishment, and will re-open next January with an expanded capacity of 33,000.

Peter Aiken of Aikan Promotions, the company that was behind the initial plans to have Garth play Croke Park in 2014, has also said that he was ‘unaware’ of any plans for a Cork concert.
