And it will see Ruth starring alongside Liam Cunningham and Brendan Gleeson, when filming begins on July 14.

“Ruth has been abroad a lot the last couple of years and she’s really built up strong credits,” a source told the Herald.

“This is a fantastic part for her and to get to work with acting veterans like Brendan and Liam is a major coup.”

Previously the 27-year-old won the Best Actress IFTA for the movie Grabbers, an adaption of John Banville’s novel.

During her time in America, Ruth appeared in a big-money pilot of Beauty and the Beast.
