Ray D'Arcy's chat show recovers with big audience after car-crash skit

Ray D’Arcy’s chat show has recovered after his cringe-worthy interview with a Jack Nicholson lookalike.

Almost 390,000 people tuned in to Saturday night’s episode, the first after the car-crash interview with the celeb imposter.

The TV presenter was the subject of a social media backlash after he told the audience the famous Hollywood actor would be joining him on the sofa on his October 24 show.

356,000 people tuned in to that episode, however viewers shot up to 389,000 for Saturday night, represent a market share of 31 per cent.

A spokesman for RTE explained that Ray’s interview with the founders of the LauraLynn hospice was a big success for the show and attracted over 400,000 viewers in for their interview.

“Ray’s moving interview with Jane and Brendan McKenna, founders of the LauraLynn Hospice Foundation, proved to be the most popular item in the show with over 400,000 viewers tuning in,” he told The Star.

Other guests for the successful episode included Anna Geary from Ireland’s Fittest Family and TV chef Donal Skehan.
