This makes the broadcaster’s show the most listened to breakfast programme in the country for under 45s.

I’m delighted with the figures. We’ve got a great team of people working behind the scenes and we still have fun with it every day,” Ian said.

Meanwhile, 2fm continues to pull in large audiences, however shows including Breakfast Republic and The Nicky Byrne Show have experienced a slight dip in viewers.

“We have rebranded in the last few weeks. It’s a brand new schedule and we have to give it time,” they said.

“We have fantastic presenters and you just have to give it time to grow. We’re very happy and the younger audiences are coming in their droves.”
