Phillip Schofield is reportedly “in a really bad place” and has no plans to return to broadcasting, despite recent reports about a comeback.
The TV presenter announced his shock departure from This Morning in May, amid reports of a “feud” between himself and his co-host Holly Willoughby.
Phillip subsequently admitted to having an affair with a younger man, who was one of their colleagues, and immediately parted ways with both ITV and his talent agency YMU.
ITV launched an inquiry into the affair, which later cleared bosses of a cover-up.
It also uncovered no further damaging claims about the former host’s relationship with a young runner on the show.
Last week, MailOnline reported that the review findings could open the door for Phillip to return to work next year.
However, sources have since told the outlet that the 61-year-old has no plans to make a comeback.
Pals told the newspaper: “Phillip isn’t returning anywhere, he has been in a really bad place since he decided to tell the truth and resign from his job. He has got himself into a cocoon and he is continuing to recover.
“He has had the report hanging over his head for a long time. It has been a thing of dread for him.”
Friends also claimed that Phillip hopes to “build a life of some kind” now that the probe is over, but it would be in private.
The TV personality and his former lover were supposed to be quizzed at length during the review; however they both declined to take part.
