Emmett J Scanlan has revealed he’s scheduled to resume filming Peaky Blinders early next year.
The Irish actor, who plays Billy in the BBC drama, teased fans that the script for season six is “incredible”.
Speaking on the Six O’Clock Show, Emmett said: “I’ve read the whole series penned beautifully by Stephen Knight who’s a genius. The scripts are incredible.
“Season six I believe they’re looking to kick off in January – maybe early January, February maybe.”
“It was obviously delayed because of the pandemic and the lockdown and whatnot and rightly so,” he continued.
“They’re making sure everything’s safe and then we’re going to kick off again.”
Speaking about landing a role in the award-winning series, which stars Cillian Murphy as the lead character Tommy Shelby, Emmett said: “I felt like I was in a candy shop.”
“It was a remarkable experience having been a fan, and then one of the lines in the latest season is ‘You’re now a Peaky Blinder, Billy.'”
Emmett also spoke about the recent arrival of his baby son Ocean-Torin, who he welcomed with his wife and former Hollyoaks co-star Claire Cooper.
Explaining the meaning behind their son’s unusual name, he said: “I’ve always loved the name Ocean for as long as I can remember. If I had a boy I always wanted to call him Ocean. I just love it.”
“I wanted to add some Irish in there as well and my sister had a boy, and on the list was Torin and I fell in love with that name as well.”
“Torin is gaelic for chief or chieftain, so basically Ocean-torin is like chief of the sea so Poseidon in other words.”
