Paddy McGuiness is set to front his own BBC Radio 2 show after he stood in for Rylan Clark.
The 50-year-old covered for the Essex host’s Saturday afternoon show and was a huge hit with listeners.
According to new reports, the TV presenter is now in talks for a long-term slot with the broadcasting giant.
A source told The Sun: “Paddy is a natural fit for Helen’s vision of Radio 2, and is an effortless broadcaster.”
“He’s proven a hit with listeners since filling in for Rylan, and was brought in for talks about the future.”
“Like fellow Bolton-born host Vernon Kay, Paddy’s Northern tones — and cheesy dad jokes — work well on air, and he has come up with some brilliant, innovative ideas for formats of his own.”
The positive news comes after the Take Me Out host and model Christine McGuinness announced their shock split in July 2022, after 11 years of marriage.
The former couple share three children – ten-year-old twins Penelope and Leo, and seven-year-old Felicity, who are all autistic.
Although the pair are no longer together they decided to stay living under the same roof for the sake of their children.
Christine told The Sun: “It’s the one thing that we completely agree on – the children’s needs come first,”
“We don’t want them to be affected by anything.”
She continued: “Patrick’s diary is busy, as it always is, so he very much dips in and out of the home, because he’s working away a lot.”
“The same as when I was his wife, I’m there to support the children when he goes out to work – that’s how it is.”
“When he comes back, that’s when I’ll try to put some of my work in.”
“It doesn’t affect the children, because they’re not moving anywhere.”
