Alesha Dixon responds to reports she’s being sued by former bandmate over royalties

The singer was previously part of a popular girl group called Mis-Teeq

Alesha Dixon has responded to reports she’s being sued by her former Mis-Teeq bandmate, Sabrina Washington.

The Sun has reported that Sabrina is taking legal action against her and their former label Universal, over allegations Alesha “wrongfully claimed” song-writing royalties for their first two singles Why and All I Want.

According to an insider, Sabrina “feels she is owed thousands” because Alesha has made more money off their music.

But in response, a spokesman for Alesha told MailOnline: “Alesha wrote the raps on both Why and All I Want and that is why she gets a split, the rest of the song was written by a production team… Sabrina has no reason to sue Alesha.”

“Sabrina was the lead vocalist, but certainly not the main writer. In terms of the entire Mis-Teeq catalogue, Alesha does receive a larger share as she contributed more the the songs, including writing all the raps.”

Mis-Teeq, which also included bandmate Su-Elise Nash, sold over 12 million records before they split in 2005.
