Holly Willoughby has been snubbed from the TV presenter category for the upcoming National Television Awards.
The 42-year-old had been longlisted for best TV presenter alongside her former co-host Phillip Schofield, but the pair didn’t make the final shortlist.
It’s been a rocky few months for Holly, after Phillip resigned from ITV in May after admitting to an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger male colleague on This Morning.
While Holly didn’t make the cut for the best presenter category, her fellow This Morning host Alison Hammond did.
The 48-year-old will go up against Bradley Walsh, Claudia Winkleman, Martin Lewis, and Ant and Dec — who have won the award 21 times.
A TV source told The Sun: “It’s hard to see a time when Ant and Dec don’t scoop the presenter gong at the NTAs.”
“But behind them, the shortlist has become a battleground all of its own. Holly was last nominated in 2021 but she and Phil missed out in 2022.”
“Holly would never expect to beat Ant and Dec but everyone had hoped her loyalty to This Morning and resilience would pay off with a nod this year. After all, she hasn’t done anything wrong,” the insider continued.
“It’ll be a huge blow for her that Alison is the golden girl that’s emerged glowing from the wreckage of This Morning.”
Meanwhile, This Morning has been nominated for best daytime show, despite recent claims of toxicity behind the scenes.
The programme is nominated alongside The Chase, Loose Women and The Repair Shop.
The final round of voting for the National Television Awards is now open.
The winners will be announced at the ceremony hosted by Joel Dommett at The O2 in London on September 5th.
