The Cabins receives mixed reviews online – as viewers are left pining for Love Island

ITV’s new dating show The Cabins has received mixed reviews online.

The brand new series, which was filmed in the UK, follows a group of singles, as they spend 24 hours getting to know their dates in an intimate log cabin.

After making it through the first 24 hours, they then have to decide if they would like to spend more time together – or call it a day and walk away.

Fans expected the show to rival the likes of Love Island, which is set to return this summer, but viewers weren’t impressed by the first episode.

Taking to Twitter, fans were mostly annoyed by the fact that contestants are allowed use their phones in the cabins.

One viewer tweeted: “Is the UK really this bored rn that we are watching people text their mam in a cabin????? #TheCabins.”

Others couldn’t help but compare the series to Love Island, and admitted it was a “poundland version” of the popular reality show.

Another unimpressed viewer tweeted: “Let’s be Honest this is just a Poundland version of Love Island. #TheCabins.”

Although the show has received criticism on social media, many viewers said they would continue watching the series.

One viewer tweeted: “Was that crap? Yes. Will I watch it tomorrow? Yes. #TheCabins.”

Another wrote: “Loved the first episode of #TheCabins looking forward to watching more tomorrow night.”

The Cabins continues tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media Two.
