Social media star and YouTuber confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing

She's following in the footsteps of Joe Sugg - who appeared on the show last year

BBC

Saffron Barker has been confirmed for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing line up.

The popular YouTuber, who has over two million subscribers, has admitted she’s nervous what the public might think of her.

Last year, social media star Joe Sugg’s place on the show raised a lot of eyebrows, but he ended up reaching the final with his now-girlfriend Dianne Buswell.

Speaking about the backlash Joe received, Saffron told Heart Radio: “I think the same sort of thing will happen probably.”

“But I think once I get on the show, the public will get to know me as they got to know Joe, because as time went on his personality just shone.”

When asked whether she’ll fall victim to the Strictly curse by starting a romance with her dance partner, the 19-year-old said: “I am very [single], but I haven’t even really thought about that.”

“I think I’m just so focused on, obviously I want to meet my partner and have the best time and everything else, but I’m just so focused on working hard.”

Saffron is the fourth contestant confirmed for this year’s show, and will join comedian Chris Ramsey, former England goalkeeper David James, and EastEnders star Emma Barton.

Rumours are rife that Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing has signed up for this year’s show too, but BBC have not yet confirmed it.
