Love Island winners Amber and Greg didn’t even APPLY to be on the show

The pair were scouted by producers

Love Island winners Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea didn’t even apply to be on the show, according to a new report.

The Mirror has reported that only six of this year’s 36 Islanders were selected through the general application process, after 85,000 people applied to be on the show.

It’s believed six of the Islanders were placed by agents, including Curtis Pritchard and Tommy Fury, and the remaining 24 were scouted by Love Island producers through the likes of Instagram.

Amber and Greg, who won the series on Monday night, were both scouted by show bosses.

Meanwhile, Amy Hart, Michael Griffiths, Ovie Soko, and Joe Garratt all applied via the general application process.

The news comes after one of Greg’s rugby teammates revealed he was contacted by Love Island producers during training back in January.

Confirming the news in the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee report, ITV chief executive Dame Carolyn McCall said: “On series five of Love Island to date (15 July), there have been 36 contributors.”

“24 were found and cast by the programme’s casting team, six were put forward by professional agents, and six came through the general application.”

The applications for next year’s show are already open, and it’s set to be even bigger and better as ITV have promised two series of Love Island next year – including a winter and summer version.
