Mrs Brown’s Boys star Rory Cowan has told how women have proposed to him – despite knowing he’s gay.
The TV actor was shocked to be asked for his hand in marriage while touring in Australia given his sexuality.
But Rory, 54, revealed that when he turned her down by saying he was gay, she told him it doesn’t matter as they’d “be so happy together.”
“Whoever wants to meet us we go out and meet them and this woman said can I have your hand? And I just thought she wanted to shake me hand,” he said.

“And she got down on her two knees and says to me ‘I’d like to propose marriage to you.’ And I thought, she’s having a laugh here and everyone started going ‘Ah, isn’t that lovely?’
“So I said ‘Are you serious?’ and she says ‘Yes’ and then I said ‘I’m gay, what are you doing?’ and she says ‘I know all that, it doesn’t make any difference, I just think we could be so happy together.’
“So I had to let her down very gently and I said ‘absolutely not, there’s no way.’ And a few weeks later in another city, a big woman was jumping up on somebody’s car.
“And she had a t-shirt with a picture of me on it that she had made up herself and I thought this is a mad woman. When I got to her she says ‘Robbie, I think we would be great companions, you’ve got to marry me.

“There’s never been a man that I really wanted to marry more than you’ and I thought ‘what is in the water over here?’”
Speaking to 2FM’s The Nicky Byrne Show, Rory also revealed that Mrs Brown co-star Jenny Gibney is happy at being out of Strictly so early.
He added: “It worked out really well, Jenny went in with the right idea. Jenny said ‘I’m going on this show and I’m not going to know anything and I want to learn how to do all the dances’.
“And then you see some of them are brilliant dancers and you think, Jenny, you should have took the lessons.”
