Love/Hate star Charlie Murphy has hit back at claims female actors are overlooked in the RTE show.

The TV series was attacked by former cast member Susan Loughnane, who played Debbie, with her calling it a “sausage-fest”.

But Charlie – who plays Siobhan in the series – insists that creator Stuart Carolan is right to keep women playing gangland mots and prostitutes as it’s the reality of this world.

More than a million viewers are expected to tune in tonight for the finale.
