Karen Koster: 'TV3 bosses would LOVE if I went into labour during Toy Show – it would rate SO well'

Karen Koster has admitted her bosses want her to go into labour during the TV3 Toy Show – as the ratings would be amazing.

The Xpose presenter is co-hosting the show with ex-Westlife star Brian McFadden, and there will be a midwife on standby in case she goes into labour.

But Karen – who is set to give birth next month – said: “TV3 would love if I went into labour – it would rate great. They wouldn’t mind at all.”

And the 34-year-old, who admits “people love watching a disaster”, said the baby is already responding to her nerves – which will be in overdrive tomorrow night.

“I’m getting kicks right now, the adrenaline is there. It’s funny how your body responds to nerves when there’s a baby inside,” she said.

“I know other mums will relate. I’m at the stage where there’s not a lot of room in there any more, so it feels like my organs are being rearranged regularly.

“It’s funny, when I get nervous the baby is in there going, ‘What’s going on, what’s happening?’ So I’d say I will be pumped full of adrenaline tomorrow at 8pm.”

But Karen has found the Toy Show a bit “overshadowed” by her and husband John Maguire’s baby.

She told Today FM’s Ray D’Arcy Show: “It’s kind of getting overshadowed at the moment because I’m so in the baby zone.

“We had our anti-natal class on Saturday and I literally went into work saying I was so pumped, I could give birth right now in the newsroom. So when people are talking about the Toy Show… I’m all about the baby.”

Meanwhile, Karen has said she has no qualms about taking on the Late Late Toy Show, adding: “It’s what we do, we just try to elbow our way in there.”

But the TV3 star insists Alan Hughes shouldn’t be angry about losing presenting the show.

She told him: “That’s understanding, but that’s the way it works in TV. You get a gig one year, you don’t get it the next year.

“It’s happened to me, it’s happened to everyone working in the media. So it’s just the way of the world with these sort of things.”
