Everyone is saying the same thing about Love Island 2022 star Gemma Owen

Love Island returned to our screens on Monday night, and everyone is saying the same thing about contestant Gemma Owen.

The 19-year-old is the daughter of former England footballer Michael Owen, and fans believe Gemma is “itching” to name drop her famous dad.

During the first episode of the 2022 series, Gemma began chatting to her partner Liam about football, asking him if he ever played professionally.

Gemma’s question prompted Liam to ask her whether she has ever dated a footballer, and she insisted she has not.

The horse rider had a smirk on her face during the conversation, which fans think was because she wanted Liam to find out about her famous footballer father.

One viewer tweeted: “Gemma is sooo blunt!! She was trying so hard not to drop her Dad’s name in #LoveIsland.”

Another fan wrote: “Gemma trying not to tell people who her dad is #LoveIsland,” and a third commented: “Gemma was begging to talk about her dad #LoveIsland.”

Someone else tweeted: “Gemma nearly popping a vein trying to stop herself from saying who her dad is #loveisland.”

Michael previously revealed to ITV that it’s his “worst nightmare” that his daughter is appearing on the hit dating show.

He said: “I have no doubts that she will make us all proud. It’s probably a father’s worst nightmare, but whatever she wants to do you’ve got to be supportive.”

“I’ve heard a lot about it. I think old, grumpy men like me will always have an opinion on it because I don’t watch it and you just hear snippets, but she assures me it’s not as bad as I think.”

Michael described his as a “sensible girl”, adding: “It’s quite a big thing and whatever she wants to do, you have to be supportive and I think I’ve given her a decent enough grounding to be respectful.”

Love Island continues tomorrow night at 9pm on Virgin Media Two.
