Comedian Jason Byrne signs up to host woodland-based gameshow for Sky 1

Comedian Jason Byrne has been signed up as the presenter of a new Sky 1 entertainment show.

The former RTE star will co-host Wild Things with UK presenter Katie Humble, which sees contestants undertaking a range of challenges on a gigantic woodland obstacle course.

It is another hiring of the Irish for Sky 1, which already has Baz Ashwamy and Chris O’Dowd on its books.

The Sky series, which sounds like a mix between Ant and Dec Saturday Night Takeaway and Takeshi’s Castle, will be aired next year.

And Jason, who will soon also be hosting a chat show for TV3, said: “I’m really proud to be a part of Wild Things, one of the funniest and ‘funnest’ shows I’ve ever worked on.

“It’s not often I cry laughing at a badger bashing a duck while an owl bowls them over to the ground.

“But then again, who wouldn’t find that funny? That’s the magic of Wild Things; even the hardest heart will laugh loudly at this show.”

Sky 1 Channel Director Adam MacDonald said: “We’re chuffed to be welcoming both Jason and Katie to the channel to anchor the utterly bonkers and hilarious Wild Things.

“The show is like nothing we’ve seen before – with a blend of giant woodland creatures, bickering couples and pots of gold; it’s a big daft slice of genius.”
