And Baz admits that the 70-year-old is loving her new found time in the spotlight.

He added: “My mam is a superstar now. I’ll be walking down the street with her and vans will pull over and chat to her.

“I think everyone in Ireland related to her, which is a rare thing in telly. I know what people were going to get obviously, because she’s my mum.

“But the whole country seemed to really take to her. And so did the UK viewers. The typical ‘Irish mammy’ was always going to go down well.

“But we were thrilled when the show got the reception it got. Sky 1 took a gamble on me and Nancy, so I’m thrilled it worked out.”

However Baz was remaining coy when asked by the Sunday World if it will be back for a second season.

He said: “I can’t say anything. I can neither confirm not deny. As I have said in the past, I would like to do another one, but we have to consider Nancy as well as the whole idea that people might not want more of the same.”
