Thousands attend homecoming celebrations for Ireland’s Women’s World Cup squad

The Republic of Ireland’s Women’s World Cup squad enjoyed homecoming celebrations in Dublin on Thursday night.

The reception kicked off at 6.30pm in front of the GPO on O’Connell Street.

The public were treated to entertainment by Block Rockin’ Beats DJ Dec Pierce, before the team took to the stage to be welcomed by MC Dave Moore from Today FM.

The Republic of Ireland played the inaugural 2023 Women’s World Cup match against host nation Australia on Thursday, July 20.

The following Wednesday [July 26], captain Katie McCabe made history as she scored the Republic of Ireland’s first ever goal in the Women’s World Cup.

The Tallaght native scored in the fourth minute of the Girls in Green’s match against Canada.

On Monday, July 31, the Girls in Green made history once again as they claimed the Republic of Ireland’s first ever point in the Women’s World Cup with their draw against Nigeria.
