Shane MacGowan is finally set to wed his long-term fiancée Victoria Mary Clarke next week.
According to the Irish Sun, The Pogues star will marry his journalist beau in Copenhagen, Denmark on Monday afternoon – after an 11 year engagement.
Shane’s long-term manager and friend Joey Cashman confirmed the news, but unfortunately won’t be able to attend due to a sudden family tragedy.
“It’s a private affair for the pair of them but I’d like to pass on my congratulations and best wishes to Shane and Victoria,” he told the newspaper.
Despite Shane’s impressive list of a-list pals, including Johnny Depp and Nick Cave, it’s believed the pair didn’t invite any of their famous friends to the intimate occasion.
But according to a pal, Shane had a “mad idea” and invited former Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams.
However, an insider added, “That was never likely to happen with schedules and so on. He is a massive fan of Gerry’s though.”
