Shane Filan on moving on from bankruptcy: 'Life is good again'

Shane Filan has revealed that his life is back on track after going bankrupt.

The Westlife star previously went bust for €23 million and was forced to sell his London home and move back to Sligo with his family last year but has since turned it all around.

“I’ve definitely turned a corner in my life,” he said.

“I was just saying to Gillian the other day that life is good again. We’ve been through an awful lot as a family. We went to hell and back as a couple.”

Shane is also back on track with his singing career and his new album Right Here has been released this weekend.

The new offering features a duet with Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle and the Sligo native recently insisted that the album is much better than his first solo effort.

The 36-year-old revealed that he’s thrilled to be back in Sligo with his wife Gillian and their three kids, Nicole, Patrick and Shane.

“That was a huge milestone for me to get my family back to Sligo,” he told the Sunday World.

Music: Shane’s new solo album is out now

“Both of us are from Sligo and I want my kids to grow up there. Leaving our family home at the time was horrible, but now I’m delighted to be back.”

With his career often taking him around the globe, Shane divulged that Gillian was starting to grow lonely in London.

“We had a couple of friends there, but we didn’t have family support,” he said.

“I feel a lot better travelling now as Gillian and the kids are back in Sligo. As a family, as a couple, we’re stronger now.”

“But I have to say Gillian was amazing when it happened. Someone else might have said I’m out of here, but she got me through it.”
