Sarah Greene to perform for Marriage Equality in the Abbey Theatre

Sarah Greene is just one of the names announced to perform at Dublin’s Abbey Theatre as part of a Yes Vote campaign.

The actress will be joined by Ireland’s acting and writing elite with actors Maria Doyle Kennedy, Gabriel Byrne as well as playwright Frank McGuinness and theatre director Wayne Jordan in attendance.

A compilation of songs will be played for the audience from Romeo and Juliet, The Risen People and Alice in Funderland.

Back to the Abbey stage: Sarah will perform at a marriage equality gig | BRIAN MCEVOY

The Cork actress who starred in Thisispopbaby’s Alice in Funderland will appear at the free event held by the arts community to encourage people to come out and vote yes in the upcoming referendum.

Only recently Sarah admited that she quit working on the stage to save money revealing.

“You spend so long working in theatre and it’s fantastic but you do get tired of being broke all the time,” she said.

The Penny Dreadful star landed a number of TV and movie roles which made matters improve financially.

The Cork actress has been dating handsome Poldark star Aidan Turner for over two years and although they’ve kept their relationship relatively private – he could make an appearance to support her at the event today.

It seems the Cork native has changed her tune about theatre in support of the upcoming marriage equality referendum.
