Ryan Tubridy has opened up about his decision to keep his daughters away from the spotlight.

The Late Late Show host, who is notoriously private when it comes to his personal life, shares two daughters with his ex-wife Anne Marie Power – Ella, 21, and Julia, 15.

Speaking on the Senior Times podcast, Ryan revealed he always felt that his children are not part of the showbiz world.

“Myself and their mum agreed about that from day one that this wasn’t going to be about a showbiz dad or anything like that,” he told the host, Mike Murphy.

“To their mum’s credit and to the girls’ smarts and abilities, they are thriving.”

“I couldn’t be happier. I couldn’t be more proud. They’re the be-all and end-all.”

The 47-year-old noted that he learns a lot from Ella and Julia in his everyday life.

“They’re 21 and 15. They’re young women but they teach me. Talk about being curious. Their curiosity feeds mine, feeds theirs,” he admitted.

Ryan explained that he has been faced with many “difficulties” in his life, and it “feeds” into his desire to keep his personal life private.

“It’s been difficult along the way. And I’d say that I would have to take responsibility for any difficulties along the way,” he said.

“I think that’s between me and my conscience. It feeds into my desire for privacy because anything I’ve done that I regret, I have to live with and I wouldn’t discuss it.”

“Because what it does do, strangely, it allows me to be a better broadcaster, whatever about being a better person.”

“Because when I get certain emails in or texts in from people or if I meet people and they tell me a story, despite the fact that I’ve a very private life, I’ve seen a lot and I’ve experienced a lot.”

The Irish broadcaster also confirmed that he has no plans to write a revealing memoir in the future.

“I’d say I’ve seen a lot and I’ve experienced a lot more than people will ever know, because I’ll never write a book and I’ll never talk about everything in my life, because there are too many people involved in it, in my family and other people’s families,” he added.

The news comes after Ryan shared some exciting news about this year’s Late Late Toy Show.
