Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh: 'I genuinely don't get asked out anymore'

Maria Walsh has revealed no one has been asking her out on dates.

The Rose of Tralee, who was crowned Most Stylish Newcomer at the VIP Style Awards this weekend, said she is hoping for another romance to come into her life but no women have been asking.

“Fingers crossed, there will be more (loves)…I really genuinely don’t (get asked out)]. I think people just say, ‘Ah well she’s really busy.’ Hopefully maybe in September when I hand back the crown.

“But for now I am married to the crown, whether its legal or not – that’s what I am married to,” she laughed.

Speaking to the Sunday Independent Maria revealed the moment she fell for the first woman in her life.

“I had been dating guys but I never found the right guy who I wanted to be with in a serious relationship,” she said.

“Work had always been my priority. And then I met a girl randomly one night.”

Opening up: Maria talked about her first love

“She came over to Philadelphia to play football. She introduced herself at the team dinner. And I just thought, ‘I’m going to be with you.’ I just knew,” she told the Sunday Independent.

“For whatever reason, I felt this is the person I want to invest time in and to build a respectful relationship with.

“I came home a couple of months later to tell my family and I came out in a very cool and collected way. We dated for a long period of time. And then life just got too busy and too complicated and we parted ways.”
