The Oscar buzz has crept up and found Saoirse Ronan once more, as her new film Lady Bird has earned itself widespread acclaim after a limited release.

Lady Bird, which was limited to a 4 screen release, managed to prove itself at the box office raking in $375,612 across the four screens in Los Angeles and New York.

Set in Sacramento, Lady Bird follows the main character Christine, aka Lady Bird (played by Saoirse) who is eager to get out of California and start college life.

As well as being a  profitable success, Lady Bird has also won over some of Hollywood’s toughest critics with The New York Times describing it as “big screen perfection” and that “every line sounds like something a person might actually say, which means that the movie is also exceptionally well acted”.

A similar review from Deadline says, “If there is any justice there will be lots of awards recognition for Ronan, who follows her beautiful Oscar-nominated performance in Brooklyn with another every bit its equal”.

This is not Saoirse’s first nomination, having previously earned herself nominations for Best Supporting Actress for 2007’s Atonement, and later for Best Actress in 2015 for her role in Brooklyn.

The official 2018 Oscars Nominations list will be announced January 23rd 2018.
