Now it's a writing overdose: Love/Hate's Susan Loughnane pens first novel

Love/Hate star Susan Loughnane is hoping to emulate Amy Huberman by writing a novel.

The Hollyoaks actress has signed a big-money publishing deal with Poolbeg for the book, which she says has been in her head for six years.

However IFTA-winning Susan insists that it won’t be a pure romance novel like Amy Huberman.

“No, it’s comedy. It’s funny because it’s not a typical genre of book that you would say is a comedy but there’s no other way to describe it because it’s not a romance,” the 27-year-old said.

Nervous: Susan will soon be published | VIPIRELAND.COM

“There is a bit of romance but it’s not the main storyline.  have just met with my publisher about it. It’s a story that I’ve had in my head for the past six years.

“I’ve been writing for a really long time. Since before I started acting, I started writing this book.

“It just took a really long time to finish it as I keep getting distracted on projects but I’ve been really passionate about it for a really long time. I was like, ‘I must finish this thing’.”

Dead: Susan’s character died of drug overdose | VIPIRELAND.COM

But Susan – whose Love/Hate character Debbie was found dead from a drug overdose last season – told the Herald she is “terrified” at the reaction the book will get.

“It’s in the process of being edited and all that and so far, people have said it’s good. [My boyfriend] has read bits,” she added.

“He’s very good, he’s so supportive and he doesn’t mess around. If something’s not good, he’ll tell it as it is.”
