Norah Casey turned into on-street grief counsellor after husband's death

TV star Norah Casey has revealed that she’s turned into an on-street grief counsellor after her husband’s death.

The former Today presenter’s husband Richard died after a short battle with cancer in October 2011.

Now Norah – who is working on a memoir – revealed she keeps being asked for help from women who are also suffering from death.

“Women would stop me on the street and ask me about grief, and how I got up and got going again,” she said.

“I thought, ‘OK, I am not a genius, I am certainly not the world’s expert but I do know how I got through this.’

“I know I am a different person and I am living a different life, and it’s not a bad life. It’s not about having a stern talking to yourself.

“It’s about understanding the things that are going on in your body, why you feel a certain way.”

And Norah, who is now dating a Dublin firefighter, told the RTE Guide that his death has boosted her to live her life.

“I feel almost an obligation to get out there and live life. Lots of people don’t have the chance to,” she added.
