Nadia Forde has admitted it’s not “easy” getting to know her cancer-battling mum from scratch.
The I’m A Celebrity star had been estranged from Berenice since childhood – before racing to London months ago after discovering she had lymphoma cancer.
However the 25-year-old hadn’t spoken to her in 18 years, after she was sent to live with her grandparents aged seven.

And Nadia said the relationship is still “something I’m still figuring out myself”.
She added: “I’ve lived the majority of my life without my mum, so it’s trying to get to know somebody from the get go under such difficult circumstances.”
The Dubliner said her mum is doing “really, really well” thanks to a revolutionary new drug but insisted, “no family is perfect, every family comes in different shapes and sizes”.

Speaking on the Saturday Night Show, Nadia added: “My mum is not well, and I have an estranged relationship with my mum… it’s a difficult situation.
“She’s ill, she has cancer, and that made things happen. And I’m glad it did. But it’s still not an easy relationship.
“And it’s still something I’m processing and dealing with every single day. People ask how I feel about it, and sometimes I really don’t know.”
However Nads – who also performed her new single – said she is grateful the new drug has “given us a little bit of time and is a blessing”.
