Muireann O’Connell has recalled the devastating moment she found out she was “the other woman” in a past relationship.
The Virgin Media presenter opened up about the situation on her podcast Let’s Solve Nothing with Joanne McNally.
Speaking about the man she was involved with, Muireann confessed: “Oh my god I was a fool for him, I was an utter fool for him.”
“This was a guy I met two days after moving to Dublin, when I first moved to Dublin, and I was like ‘Oh my God, this is insane’.”
“Everything was going great, the sexual chemistry was unbelievable. I was like ‘How does this happen?'”
“And then we go to a festival and some of his friends are there, and I’m with a group of my friends, and I’m like ‘Hey, how’s it going? How are you?'”
“And this girl was like ‘Hi Muireann, how are you? I’ve heard loads about you, it’s lovely to talk to you!’ And his friends were having actual panic attacks and she’s like, ‘I’m his girlfriend!'”
“Next thing I see him running across the field like a lunatic just going, ‘Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God’ because a friend had a job to keep us apart all day, that was his job for the festival to be like, ‘Can you make sure she doesn’t meet her.'”
Muireann recalled: “I just said ‘Okay I’m going to go’, and turned around and walked away…”
The TV star admitted she drowned her sorrows with alcohol, and was supported by friends who formed a “protective bubble” around her.
Muireann added: “So I was the other woman in a relationship without realising!”
