Maura Higgins previously appeared on TALLAFORNIA before finding fame on Love Island

This is gas!

Maura Higgins’ ex-fiancé has revealed that she appeared on Irish reality show Tallafornia, years before she found fame on Love Island.

James Finnegan, who split from the Longford native two years ago, said he always thought Maura would “get famous somehow”.

Speaking to the Irish Sun, the 31-year-old said Maura appeared in the back of an episode of Tallafornia while the cast filmed the second series in Santa Ponsa back in 2012.

He said: “I thought she might do well and get famous somehow. She’d be well known in the town.”

Tallafornia, which was considered the Irish version of Geordie Shore, first aired on TV3 in 2011 – but it was sadly cancelled after just two seasons.

The car mechanic also revealed that Maura was asked to go on Love Island before.

James said: “She was asked to go on the show last year. I don’t know why she turned it down. She probably always considered doing it.”

Speaking about their relationship, which ended in September 2017, James said: “She was very good to me and I was good to her. We were good to each other.”

“She was kind. She was always there for me. We looked after each other in several ways. She’d a heart of gold.”

“I wish her the best of luck, I don’t begrudge her. She is doing well in it and I wish her the best in it. There’s no bad feelings and there is no bad blood between us,” he added.
