Maura Derrane admits: 'I didn't feel guilty about going back to work after I had Cal'

Maura Derrane has revealed she didn’t feel guilty about returning to work after having baby Cal.

The TV presenter had her first child at age 44 but was already ready to return to work just four months after giving birth.

“I didn’t feel guilty about it, the job was there, the show was coming back and if I didn’t go back it would have gone ahead without me,” she said.

“I don’t regret it for one second, he’s fine, he’s a very balanced and happy baby.”

“I am however looking forward to being off for the summer and giving him that time,” she told the RTE Guide.

The Today Show host also admitted that it “would have been nice” to have another child, had she started her family at a younger age.

Second thoughts: Maura thinks it would have been nice to have more children

“It would have been nice to have another child. I mean I’m not going to, I’m too old, but in hindsight it might have been,” she said.

“And not for me, but for him. I grew up with three sisters and while we killed each other we still knew we had one another and having siblings is a great thing.”

“I’m hopeful he’ll have a lot of friends and be involved in lots of different things. I’ll push him into doing everything!”
