Louis Walsh reveals he’s ‘going to try be a better person’ after Celebrity Big Brother stint

Louis Walsh has revealed he’s “going to try and be a better person” following his stint on Celebrity Big Brother.

The music manager, 71, came fourth place in the final of the iconic reality show’s return on Friday.

Days after the final, the former X Factor judge has admitted he wants to try be “nicer”, after raising eyebrows with his “catty” comments on the show.

During his time on the show, Louis revealed his secret battle with blood cancer during the pandemic, which also made him reassess his life.

Speaking to The Sun, Louis said: “Cancer is a great reality check. This whole experience is going to change me. I’m going to try and be a better person.

“I am going to try and be nicer. I am a bit catty. I always let people know what I think of them, that’s just me.”

Despite his pledge to be “nicer”, the outspoken 71-year-old continued: “You know what really annoys me, though? All this kissing and hugging [on the show]. You don’t even know each other! So fake! They all wanted to win.”

“That was the bottom line on the show. There was nothing controversial that happened really because everyone was too wary, too woke, everyone is too careful what they say and it all becomes bland and boring.

“I didn’t want to be like that. I was just sitting there like an observer and telling people what I thought of what was happening in there.

“I was only telling the truth. I wasn’t trying to be catty, I was just reporting what I saw. I was brought up to say it like it is. Some of the housemates were just boring and bland and playing to the cameras.”

The Irish star attracted plenty of headlines during his time on Celebrity Big Brother, thanks to his unfiltered comments and opinions on acts he’s represented in the past.

The music manager branded his former act Jedward “vile”, and also referred to Ronan Keating as a “pr*ck”.

During the same interview, Louis revealed he secretly struggled with crippling insomnia and anxiety during his time in the CBB house.

He admitted: “We weren’t allowed to get up and do anything if we woke up in the night so I’d wake at 3, 4 In the morning, and just lie there in the dark, worrying about things.

“Worrying about my mother, my health, what I had said that day – for the first time ever, I suffered from anxiety.”

Louis continued: “They gave me my prescription sleeping pills but they would only give me one rather than two and after they wore off I was awake, panicking. The night times scared me.

“But there are medics on-call 24/7, and they were brilliant. They spoke to me and calmed me down after I started having a panic attack and they really helped calm me down.

“I’ve never had therapy before, not even when I was diagnosed with the cancer, but for the first time ever I spoke to psychotherapists when I was in that house.

“It was surreal because you couldn’t see them, your just spoke to them through an ear piece – but they really helped me.”
