Katie Taylor all set for title fight this weekend

The fighter made her pro boxing debut last November

Katie Taylor will take on unbeaten Argentine Anahi Sanchez for the WBA lightweight title this Saturday in Cardiff.

The World Title fight is on the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s heavily anticipated world heavyweight title defence against Carlos Takam at the Principality Stadium.

Katie is a huge favourite to claim her first professional title in this weekends fight, despite the fact that the amateur world gold medalist is coming up against a two-weight world pro champion.

Speaking to RTE Radio 1 during the week, her promoter Eddie Hearn said he expects the Wicklow fighter to become world champion this weekend.

“It’s crunch time really isn’t it? She’s had a wonderful start to her career obviously – debuting at the end of November last year – and now 11 months on, thrown in the deep end in a real fight for the world title against the two weight world champion Anahi Sanchez”

“I think the team are a little bit on edge I think arriving in Cardiff – but you know Katie’s been under pressure before and she’s come through the other side”. I expect her to become world champion on Saturday.”

No doubt the whole country will be watching and cheering on Katie this Saturday night!
