Kathryn Thomas has revealed her mother narrowly escaped the recent terrorist attacks in Tunisia.

The Voice Of Ireland presenter’s mum was on holiday in the North African country and left just days before the horrific attacks were carried out.

The TV star admitted that her mum was shocked by the low level of security at the museum.

“My mum recounted how she walked straight past a security guard asleep in the shade at Bardo, paid the entrance fee and went through to the museum with no security screening.”

“Without doubt, security should have been ramped up. It was and is up to the Tunisian government to do everything to protect its citizens and its tourists,” she wrote in her Star coloumn.
