Kathryn Thomas on Ana Hick's death: 'We all took risks as teens'

RTÉ presenter Kathryn Thomas has opened up about the death of teenager Ana Hick.

The Dubliner died after reportedly taking cheap ecstasy tablets, and Kathryn has said “we all took risks” at that age.

The Voice of Ireland presenter opened up in her weekly newspaper column about the danger out people take when they are younger.

“We all took more risks at that age, whether it was drinking too much, waking up not remembering what happened, taking drugs or just ending up in situations which left us exposed to danger,” she said.

Speaking about the tragic death of the 18-year-old, Kathryn said Ana was just having fun.

“She had so much to live for. And last Saturday night, that is what the pretty teenager thought she was doing, living life, having the craic with her mates,” she added.

“At that young age you feel infallible, you just assume that nothing bad could ever happen to you,” she wrote in the Star.
