The actor feared the worst when the lights went out at Ardmore Studios

Johnny Ward has revealed that he “thought there was a terrorist attack” when Ardmore Studios suffered a power cut last weekend.

The Fair City star and his pro dance partner Emily Barker were being interviewed by Nicky Byrne on Dancing With The Stars on Sunday night when there was a sudden blackout – causing the show to go off air.

Speaking to The Irish Sun, Johnny said, “Honestly it was nerve-wracking. I thought there was a terrorist attack. And if not a terrorist attack, I thought something sinister was going on. Everything went black.”

“The pro dancers were going, ‘This has never happened before’. We didn’t know what it was and everyone was thinking, ‘What the hell is going on?’ That was the first ten seconds.”

The sudden panic reminded Johnny of the time he was at Dublin’s Point Theatre in 1999, and a bomb threat interrupted a performance of Les Miserables.

“That was the most scared I’ve ever been,” he said. “They had to evacuate The Point immediately because they got a call in about a bomb. But it turned out to be only a bomb scare.”

Meanwhile, RTÉ have explained that the blackout was caused by a “double outage” on a generator.
