James McAvoy says he would love to play O’Donovan brothers in biopic with Michael Fassbender

James McAvoy has said he would love to play the O’Donovan brothers in a biopic with Michael Fassbender.

The Hollywood actor met the Olympic rowers when they appeared on The Graham Norton show together, along with Kerry man Michael Fassbender.

The energetic duo became overnight international sensations after a string of hilarious post-race interviews at the Rio 2016 Games.

Speaking to The Sun, the actor says that if a movie adaptation of the brothers was to come about, he and Michael would be the perfect casting.

Biopic: James McEvoy wants to play one of the O’Donovan brothers in a biopic | RTÉ

“We’ve been looking to do something else together that has heart, has action, has suspense, has comedy. Has Olympic medals. It’s a no-brainer.

“I was just mesmerised by the O’Donovans. They sat on that couch and commanded focus.

“They were the funniest, coolest guys and just by being themselves, they sort of won over the world.

“And even though yes, they are much younger than us, that’s what make-up and CGI magic is for.”
