Irish influencer Grace Mongey slams trolls for ‘fat shaming’ her and calling her a ‘terrible mother’

Irish influencer Grace Mongey has slammed trolls for “fat shaming” her and calling her a “terrible mother”.

The mother-of-two took to Instagram on Monday after receiving “horrendous” messages online, after sharing photos from a wellness retreat in Italy.

She wrote: “Since when did awe become so toxic? Over the last week I’ve had to read horrendous comments about myself, some saying awful things like I’m so depressed, a terrible mother & fat shaming me.”

“Let me ask you this, if a man was to go on a retreat to invest in his well-being would you shame him? I think not, he’s be told how wonderful & admirable it was and not told he’s a terrible father.”

“I’ve stayed quiet for too long about the negativity I receive but it was only in this last week, talking to supportive women that I realised I don’t need to stand for this.”

“I know and I don’t need to justify or prove what a f***ing amazing mother I am but what I do need to do is tell you it’s not ok to criticise, judge or shame mothers. Lord knows, we have another Mam guilt to go around.”

“So please, think before you type and try your best to be cheerleaders not trolls 💛” Grace urged.

Commenting on the post, fellow Irish influencer Terrie McEvoy wrote: “You’re an incredible mother, person and friend!! Ignore the poison! You are so loved by so many xxxxx❤️”

Louise Cooney added: “It’s easy to see how dedicated you are to your kids. You’re an amazing mum. Keep your head up and don’t let the negativity into your space ❤️❤️❤️ lots of love xxx”

Grace and her fiancé Chris Gernon and are parents to two children – Sienna, 4, and Hayden, 2.

The couple were originally planning to wed in July 2021, but have since decided to postpone their wedding due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
