Irish influencer confirmed as new contestant on The Circle

People are loving the Channel 4 series

Irish influencer Paddy Smyth is joining Channel 4’s The Circle as a new contestant.

The popular series, which first aired last year, bills itself as a game based around social media, with the concept that “anyone can be anyone in The Circle”.

Contestants live in the same building, but are never allowed to meet, and they communicate solely using their profiles on a specially-designed app – giving them the ability to portray themselves in any way they choose.

A page that follows the show’s updates teased Paddy’s arrival on Twitter, by sharing a gif of him.

Paddy is no stranger to reality TV, as he starred in RTÉ’s The Fitting Room earlier this year, and made a name for himself on First Dates Ireland.

However, Paddy has signed up for a very different type of reality show this time.

Throughout the series, the “players” have to rank each other from most to least favourite.

The two highest rated players become “influencers”, leaving the remaining players at risk of being “blocked” by them.

Blocked players are eliminated from the game, but are given the opportunity to briefly meet one player still in the game.

During the final, the contestants rate each other one final time – and the highest rated player wins the series and receives a £50,000 cash prize.

The viewers also get to choose their “viewers champion” out of the finalists, and the winner will receive a cash prize of £25,000.
