Irish actress Niamh Algar announces the death of her sister in heartbreaking tribute

Irish actress Niamh Algar has posted a heartbreaking tribute to her beloved sister, who has sadly died.

The star’s older sibling Lynne Algar passed away last Friday, “following an illness bravely borne with great courage and dignity”.

Sharing photos of Lynne over the years, Niamh wrote on Instagram: “There are simply no words to describe the pain in losing a big sister. My heart is broken.”

“She taught me everything. She touched and inspired so many she met and worked with, and accomplished more in her short life than most people would achieve in several lifetimes,” Niamh continued.

“She fought the Everest of all cancers and managed it with so much dignity, humility and strength.

“She’s my hero and forever will be. Her kids are her world and the most beautiful extensions of her, an extraordinary legacy that I will forever be in awe of.

“I love you Lynne, you will never be forgotten. Thank you to the incredible medical teams at Beaumont, the Mater Hospital and to the Irish Cancer Society.”

“She passed on Daffodil Day and if you can, please donate to the Irish Cancer Society and Brain Tumour Ireland.”

Lynne’s funeral will take place on Tuesday, March 26, in Mullingar.

Her death notice on RIP.ie reads: “Lynne Alexandra, ALGAR, Sundays Well Road, Mullingar, March 22, 2024. It is with deep regret that we announce the death of our beloved Lynne, who passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family, following an illness bravely borne with great courage and dignity.

“Cherished mother of Aille and Nuada, Lynne will be forever loved and always remembered by her adored children, their father Aaron, her heartbroken parents Dave and Angela, her dear brothers and sisters Kenneth, John, Jen and Niamh. sisters in-law, aunts, uncles, relatives, friends and neighbours.”
