“I’m really into that type of show. Whether I would get asked or not I don’t know but you what if I was asked I would have no qualms about saying yes. I would love to do it.”

The Ballyfermot native explained how she was a mother figure to the X Factor contestants and would use that to mentor upcoming talent.

“I was a mammy figure, they did come to me and speak to me. I’d love to do something like that and give someone,  in this country the opportunity to do something with their lives especially if they have good talent,” she told Goss.ie.

The 55-year-old performer believes that a talent show would be a huge success in Ireland.

“If it’s done similar to The X Factor and there is enough money put behind it and good quality I think it would be a great thing cause we do have a lot of talent in this country,” she revealed.

The former Tesco employee feels more needs to be done with winners and contestants to ensure they have full support when the show ends.

“You need something like the X Factor where they follow up the people, try and get them something but work within the year, well and good, and if it doesn’t then you put your head down and say it’s not working, but try and help them people gone into the show.

“Even the ones that come second and third, try to help them and try give them a platform and continue supporting them and see how they go. I think it would be a great idea,” she candidly told Goss.ie.

Mary is currently promoting a charity single for Barnardos with all funds raised going to the charity.

“Every single penny of that money goes to Barnardos. It doesn’t go anywhere else except Barnardos and those kids need it badly and those people working hard on behalf of the children in this country,” she explained.
