Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson are taking over the Aran Islands this summer to film Martin McDonagh’s new movie The Banshees of Inisheer.
The trio famously worked together on the 2008 black comedy In Bruges, which received critical acclaim.
The Banshees of Inisheer is set on a remote Irish isle, and Colin and Brendan will play two lifelong friends who find themselves at an impasse when one abruptly ends their relationship with alarming consequences for both of them.
Goss.ie can exclusively reveal that Colin and Brendan will start shooting the upcoming movie on the island of Inis Mór from July 14.
A source told us: “All the locals are preparing for Colin and Brendan’s arrival next month. There’s huge excitement in the air.”
“Anyone looking to book a staycation on Inis Mór this summer will be disappointed, as all the accommodation on the island has been booked out for two months.”
“They’ll be shooting scenes all over the island, and everyone’s super excited about meeting the cast and crew,” our insider continued.
“Inis Mór is the perfect backdrop for The Banshees of Inisheer – and Colin, Brendan and Martin and delighted to be working together again.”
“The movie doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s expected to hit cinemas in 2022,” they added.
Back in 2008, Colin and Brendan received rave reviews when they starred in Martin’s debut feature film, In Bruges.
Both stars were nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes in 2009, which Colin ended up winning.
Alongside numerous awards, Martin won the gong for Best Original Screenplay at the BAFTAS.
In Bruges was also nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards in 2009.
