RTE legend Anne Doyle has said she thinks gay marriage will “inevitably” made legal soon.
The former Montrose star told Goss.ie that she doesn’t think it will be “all that long” until it becomes law.
And Anne, who walked former colleague Aengus Mac Grianna down the aisle last week, has thrown her weight behind a yes vote in next year’s newly-announced referendum.
Asked her thoughts on gay marriage not yet being legal in Ireland, she said: “Inevitably that will change.
Wedding: Anne walked Aengus down aisle
“When you’ve lived as long as I have, you accept that slowly but surely everything changes. And I shouldn’t think it would be all that long until that changes.”
Anne added that she felt the fact Aengus and husband Terry Gill have to go to London to make their wedding legal next month “didn’t cast a shadow on a wonderful day” at their nuptials.

Speaking to Goss.ie, Anne added that Aengus’ wedding was “magnificent fun” but revealed she didn’t give a speech.
“It was a marvelous day and a night – it was just magnificent fun,” she said. “If you could have wrote the script for the celebration it wouldn’t have been this good.
“It was very emotional walking down the aisle, but I didn’t say a few words. Speeches were kept to a minimum, which was absolutely good.”
