Elaine Crowley has revealed her debs was an “anti-climax” after her boyfriend at the time dumped her two weeks before the big night.
The TV3 presenter was left deflated after he told her he couldn’t afford to take her to the event.
“I brought my sister’s boyfriend’s brother. He very kindly stood in because the guy I was going out with at the time dumped me two weeks before,” she said.

“His excuse was he had to pay the car insurance and couldn’t afford to go the debs.”
Elaine added that overall, the night was “a bit of an anti-climax.”
While she may have not gotten the perfect date, the TV star admitted her dress more than made up for it.

“I actually think my debs dress was lovely. I made it myself with the help of my sister.”
“I picked out the fabric and the pattern and my sister did design in college so she gave me advice as well,” she told RSVP Magazine.
It was a floor length, bottle green velvet dress with a sweetheart neckline and long sleeves and I wore a pearl choker with it, which was all the range back then!”
