Dermot Bannon ‘heartbroken’ over the death of Room to Improve star Michael Stokes

The teenager sadly passed away on Saturday

Dermot Bannon has paid tribute to Room to Improve star Michael Stokes, who sadly passed away over the weekend.

The celebrity architect admitted that he is “heartbroken” over the death of Michael, who captured the hearts of the nation when he appeared on RTÉ’s Room to Improve in 2015.

Speaking to RTÉ Entertainment, Dermot said, “I’m heartbroken for Ann, Barry, his parents, his family, and anyone who knew him.”

“Michael was such a big character with a huge heart filled with fun, joy and excitement. He leaves a very big void. I saw how he touched so many lives, those he knew and the many he never met.”

“I feel so privileged to have known him, he taught me so many things about life but most of all, don’t get caught up in all the things you can’t do or have no control over, enjoy and do your best with the things you can,” he added.

In the popular Room to Improve episode, Dermot was brought in to make teacher Ann and her husband Barry’s home wheelchair accessible for Michael, who they were fostering.

The teenager sadly passed away at Temple Street Children’s Hospital on Saturday following a tragic accident.
